2010 Australian Timeshare Golf Open

The Timeshare Industry Golf Open was held at the Colonial Golf Club on Friday February 26, 2010. The weather was kind to us and the rain held off until the end of the day and was thoroughly enjoyed by all players. This was a fabulous opportunity to play golf and raise money for many great causes granted by the ATHOC Foundation. This is the fifth year that the Industry has run this event and over this time raised more than $350,000. The ATHOC Annual 19th Industry Awards Night will be held at the Gold Coast Arts Centre on Friday 30th July 2010

2010 ATHOC Conference - Christchurch, New Zealand

Christchurch, New Zealand will be the host city for the 2010 Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council (ATHOC) Conference.
The Conference will run from Sunday 12th September to Tuesday 14th September 2010.

Take advantage of the opportunity  to  mix  with colleagues and suppliers from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji as well as get up to date on the most pressing issues facing the Holiday Ownership Industry.

ATHOC Annual Conference 2009

Tourism heavy weights from around the globe descended on the Gold Coast on the 12th, 13th & 14th September for the Australian Timeshare industry's annual conference and awards.

The "Moving Forward Together" conference brought together more than 150 delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China, Singapore, the United States and the United Kingdom to discuss current issues being faced in the Timeshare industry.

The Conference kicked off on Sunday 13th September at the Courtyard by Marriott, Surfers Paradise with ATHOC AGM & Information session and New Zealand Holiday Ownership Council Meeting then on to Billy's Beach House where ICE Asia Pacific hosted a "Beach Party" complete with Meter Maids, Surf Life Savers and a Beach Boy Band.

The delegates had the privilege of hearing from many informative speakers through out the three day conference. The Keynote Speaker was Geoff Ballotti, President and CEO of Group RCI who gave the delegates an insight into the current Global Timeshare affiliates and operations based on his experience. Andrew Bell from Ray White Real Estate Surfers Paradise shared his "Head Space" concept with us and Joe Malone from Shell Vacation Club discussed some actions his company has implemented in response to the changing market conditions brought on by the recession.      

Prof Beverley Sparks and Dr Graham Bradley of Griffith University helped us to understand the meaning of "Derived Customer Value in the Resort Ownership Industry" from a sales and a customer perspective.  Also from Griffith University, Prof Bill Merrilees, told the delegates about the responsibility of companies in protecting the timeshare brand Image. Dial An Exchange hosted a cocktail party at The Titanium Bar in Surfers Paradise overlooking the Nerang River. A wonderful night was had by all.

Noel Whittaker, Investment Guru, had everyone taking notes as he explained ways to create wealth whilst saving tax and also gave some tips on how to stay in control of your finances. Trading places President, RJ Jackson explained the management and corporate governance of timeshare resorts. Elizabeth Jameson, Director of Board Matters examined the changing practices in the Boardroom, while Trevor Slater, Investigator and Conciliator from New Zealand Banking Ombudsman taut us "How to detect Deception"

The "Best Job in the World" campaign was shared with us by Danielle Koopman of Tourism Queensland. We heard from Dino Mezzatesta from Accor Vacation Club who present along side Paul Picone of Freshwater Point Management. Daniel Sweet from Mirvac Investment Management on sustainability, as well as Andrew Heslehurst of Group RCI and Marcus Sigmann from Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific.

 As well as industry speakers, Rowena Szeszeran-McAvoy, "WOWed" us with the 3E's - How to Explode out of bed, with Energy and Enthusiasm... even on Monday mornings!!!

The final night of the conference was celebrated with a "Progressive Dinner" starting at Alto's Restaurant in the Broadbeach Mall for Entr(233)e and drinks, we were escorted to Mario's Restaurant by a "Mad Chef" for Dinner. A duo singing and playing the accordion entertained us with some old Italian classics and then lead us out into the mall and down to "Howl at the Moon" for cheese platters, awards ceremony and more drinks............

Ramy Filo, President of ATHOC presented Mike Winlaw of Accor Vacation Club with the Recognition Award. The Award for Outstanding New Professional went to Marnie Jess of Accor Vacation Club, the Award for Professionalism went to Wendy Kessler of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific. The final Award was the "Hall of Fame Award" which was presented to a most deserving person, Charisse Cox of Group RCI who was overcome with gratitude. Congratulations Charisse. 

The delegates danced on til the wee small hours. Everyone was having a fabulous night - there was some disco moves that hadn't been seen in a long time. The conference was a complete success

ATHOC Annual 18th Industry Awards Night

Over 250 of the industry's finest attended the 18th National Timeshare Awards hosted by the peak body - Australian Timeshare and Holiday Owners Council (ATHOC) at the Gold Coast Arts Centre on Friday night 31st July 2009.

The theme of the night was stars, which is exactly what the 16 award winners were. Industry Stars, recognised by both their company and the industry as a whole.

ATHOC Ten Pin Bowling Challenge

ATHOC Ten Pin Bowling Challenge was held at Surfers Paradise Ten Pin Bowling Centre on Thursday 14th May 2009

A fabulous night was had by all but the Winners of the night were "Group RCI - 35 years strong" team - Anna Nowlan, Dave Scheckter, Scott Hirst and Brian George with a team score of 595. Anna's score was 220 (and to all those who enquired...."Yes, she really does work for Group RCI and not brought in especially for the Bowls night")
