Margaret was elected to the House of Representatives as the representative for the Electorate of McPherson on the southern Gold Coast in October 1998. She has held the seat comfortably over the two elections since and her margin is now 13.89%.
Margaret is a Member of three Standing Committees - Procedure (Chairman), Employment, Workplace Relations and Workforce Participation and Treaties and is a member of five Government Policy Committees including Defence and Veterans’ Affairs, Family and Human Services, Health and Ageing, Small Business, Tourism, Sport and the Arts (Secretary) and Trade and Foreign Affairs.
Her community involvement is varied and she holds executive positions on the Gold Coast Titans , the Bond University Medical Degree Advisory Committee and the Gold Coast Community Fund to name a few. And now of course, the ATHOC Foundation. Margaret is a great supporter of the timeshare industry and has been instrumental in helping us gain direct access to Canberra.
