Ramada Flynns Beach Staff Taking Charge Against Cancer

March 23, 2018 2:14 pm

A team of fitness fanatics from Ramada Resort Flynns Beach are charging forward with a fundraiser to tell cancer where to go.

As part of the Cancer Council’s The March Charge personal fitness challenge, Resort Manager Suzy Berry, Front Office Manager Karly Crew, Guest Service Agent Debbie Gooley and Quality Assurance Representative Sally Black have committed to walking, running and attending boot camp sessions to raise funds and awareness for cancer.

“One of our long-term team members lost her father recently to cancer. She had taken time off to assist in his care, so that is what inspired us to get involved,” Suzy said.

“So far we have raised more than $600 and clocked more than 100 kilometres, so we are on our way to reaching our goal of $1,500 and 125 kilometres by the end of March.

“Sadly, cancer still takes too many of us and while hitting our goal is going to be a challenge, it’s nothing compared to the battle that those who experience cancer have to face.”

In 2017, The March Charge attracted almost 7,000 registrations and raised more than $914,000. The target for 2018 is $1,000,000.

Funds raised by the event go towards the Cancer Council’s research, prevention, advocacy and support services. Cancer Council is the only charity organisation that works across every stage of every cancer, making a significant impact on individuals and the wider community.
